The Sweet Huntingdon Hall, Worcester, 2 December 2006

Dearly beloved, the Sweet have a new singer and bass player in the form of Pete Lincoln who has jumped ship from 70s ‘Glass of Champagne’ chart-toppers, Sailor.

Sweet rock the church that is Huntingdon Hall with all the usual stuff. ‘Hellraiser’, still for me the best thing that Connolly-Priest-Scott-Tucker ever did, opens the show. Pete’s had a little more time to familiarise himself with the material so we do get live favourites like ‘Burn on a flame’ and ‘AC/DC’ back tonight.

The highlight is an impromptu appearance from one Mr Tony O’Hora. Will he be using his American or Irish accents tonight? He takes on the lead vocals for ‘Teenage Rampage’ and ‘Set me free’, as ever, superb!

Post-show Bruce Bisland, Steve Grant and Pete mix and mingle with their die-hard fans. There’s a near total-Turton-turnout, Dunky’s here, Woody too and many other friendly faces albeit I’m not feeling too clever. Andy signs a few autographs and is then whisked away in a speeding Land Rover. Amen!
